Back Soon

Happy New Year Everyone.

I haven't given up posting, we bought a home in December and have been moving into it, the last 3 weeks.

Right now, I have a tendency to fall asleep if I sit down. I should be back to par next week.

Bought a new home!?
So you are part of the 1%. The power elite. I thought so.

Happy 2017 to you and your family Jim. Thanks for your interesting posts through these years.

Hi AIM

Not part of the power elite. VA loan 5% down for a half million at 3.75%

Its a 30 year loan and I'll be 100 when I pay it off.

Hi AIM

Didn't mean to sound so gruff, when I read it back the next day it didn't sound like there was any humor in it. I meant my comment to be on the funny side.

Thank you and a Happy 2017 to you also.

Take care

Jim

Hi dearieme

Happy New Year and I had to google "lang may yer lum reek" to figure it out. A Scottish saying.

Thank you and take care

Trump wins and you buy a home? That is confidence.

Hi Anon 10:53

It had nothing to do with Trump. We'd been renting a 2,300 sq foot home for 19 years at $1,700 a month. The owner decided he wanted to sell it and gave us two months notice. My VA loan eligibility (with no PMI), buying a house was about the same cost as renting one $2,700 a month.

I can't believe that they would loan me 500k for 30 years at the age of 70. They didn't ask my age, only how much I earned a year. Now Social Security is mailing me $1,500 a month since I deferred collecting to age 70, so I only have to come up with the difference which is $1,200 a month.

As for confidence, I am quite certain that I will wake up and all of this is just a dream. I guess I'll just savor the moment.

The wife is very happy with our new home, the only problem, she wants me to share space with our dog outside, so we don't get the house dirty.

Why didn't you buy at the low in 2009-2011 but now?
you are bullish on real estate?
thanks.
does this mean the depression is over?

Sorry, I am just finding that an odd question. How would anyone know, except for those that pull the strings.

Now a 30 year loan at age 70 , that is interesting to think about!
