Let’s see, no wall for Trump after he opens the government for three weeks. Pelosi said the government had to be open for any discussion of the border wall. It doesn’t look like she is open to any sort of border wall negotiations after the government was reopened.
What if Trump decides to build the wall by using his emergency powers? And then tells Congress to pass the budget with two thirds vote, because his signature is not forthcoming. He can claim that what ever they pass will have the blessing of the American people. And it will be up to Congress to accept the guilt for any foot dragging in coming to an agreement. If Congress truly represents the people, this will come to be, at some point in time. Its about time for them to pass a budget that has a firm support from both sides.
Congress needs to be shown that the real world, looks at what you have accomplished, not what you stand for. Many of these Congressman have dreams that elude reality. Practicality and pragmatism are what we need.
Compromise will build unity.

He needs to offer a choice: thorough border control, or give up and open the doors completely. Let his opponents decide and take full responsibility.
Hi Sackerson
I wish it was that easy.
Both sides of Congress have done nothing for the last 35 years on fixing the border except use it as an election platform issue. "Vote for me and by god I'll fix it." It never happens. All talk no action.
I think Trump will get it done despite the lack of help from Congress.
I was just suggesting that he call their bluff!
Hi Sackerson
Trump might just do that. We will have to wait and see.
Our Wall is a little like your Brexit. Sadly, a politician who does nothing, has a better shot at re-election. Half of the voters are for change and half are against it--a sticky wicket
How does the wall stop the influx of illegal immigrants coming into the country? I live in Miami, and most of the people that I've come to know, flew into this country from many European and South American countries, with a valid visa. Due to the economic and political conditions in their respective countries, they chose to stay illegally. Millions of people enter the US this way rather than the latter. Also, the Mexican cartels make billions of dollars from the Cocaine drug trade, and therefore have already constructed tunnels to bypass the building of the wall... In other words, do you think is worth it to spend billions of dollars on a wall, when we could be spending those dollars in other areas that would add much more benefit to the economy rather than continue to place the US in more debt, and hence continue to pass that debt to tax payers and future generations?
@Erika: That too, not instead?
Hi Erika
I think that the one time charge of 25 billion for the wall beats the 100 to 350 billion per year (depending on whose estimate you choose) we spend to take care of them.
If you have a plan and follow it, you will succeed, if all you have are reasons not to do anything, you achieve nothing.
We have listened to 40 years of talk with no results. These illegals are spending my tax dollars and I don't like it one bit.
I'm ready to give Trump a chance. There is no profit motive in it for him. Let the Mexican drug cartels waste their money buying a few congressmen
