The young don't see inflation and the retirees to whom it is very visible, are too old and feeble to do anything about it.<br /><br />We saved all of our life for retirement, and the present interest rate makes that well planed strategy totally worthless. Under the old system, $100 a month saved for 40 years netted a million dollars. By todays rates, you have less than 50K<br /><br />It kind of reminds me of the old joke "You know what burns my ass?" Ans: a fire about 3 feet high. Their currently preferred method is using inflation to reduce the burden of the debt. The way they have set about it - zero interest rate policy - results in everyman getting less interest on his money than he could possibly have predicted decades ago.<br /><br />If the interest rate you receive is less than the inflation rate you face then the policy is working. deariemenoreply@blogger.com
