Fast forward to today, and I think that you have information so fast that it can really make things worse than 1929.

Earlier in my blog, I reported on a couple that wanted to commit suicide on a boat in India. Everyone rushed to one side to witness the event, and the boat rolled and killed everyone.

IMHO if there are enough people with the same information say a disaster stock meltdown scenario, they will all react the same, and make the situation 10 times worse than 1989.

I hope I'm wrong.Jim in San Marcoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09435296419912935381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27697009.post-1158603522172886292006-09-18T11:18:00.000-07:002006-09-18T11:18:00.000-07:00I think the answer is very little since most peopl...I think the answer is very little since most people don't read the blogs or accept the 'messages' (thoughts and ideas) that are conveyed.bubble_watcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09754629981220575364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27697009.post-1158502165085165862006-09-17T07:09:00.000-07:002006-09-17T07:09:00.000-07:00so i've been thinking lately what effect would all...so i've been thinking lately what effect would all those blogs (incl. this one, of course) and internet as a whole will have in the next few years - with respect to "The Great Depression"... ironically, during the net stock boom and bust of 2000, blogs didn't exist in the magnitude of today...

would it exasperate the downturn or smooth it out a little???

very curious...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27697009.post-1157911641721069822006-09-10T11:07:00.000-07:002006-09-10T11:07:00.000-07:00That's a very good point. It is also important to use smaller amounts of money (i.e. money that you can afford to lose) and to not 'bet the farm/house'.bubble_watcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09754629981220575364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27697009.post-1157771429287256752006-09-08T20:10:00.000-07:002006-09-08T20:10:00.000-07:00Shorting is not for the weak at heart. There is a great incentive of the fund to do nothing with your money, except enjoy themselves.

Mid September thru October is a real good time to play shorting the market. I really can't recommend any options, I don't want the price of what I am buying to double. October 1987 was a very good month for me.

Good luckJim in San Marcoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09435296419912935381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27697009.post-1157646113560262212006-09-07T09:21:00.000-07:002006-09-07T09:21:00.000-07:00And speaking of things that go bump in the night.....And speaking of things that go bump in the night..

Maybe now is the time to consider buying some shares of funds that short the stock market.bubble_watcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09754629981220575364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27697009.post-1157584849725564602006-09-06T16:20:00.000-07:002006-09-06T16:20:00.000-07:00I think the answer to most of these questions is s...I think the answer to most of these questions is something called 'complacency'..

And complacency along with the hope that 'things will eventually turn around' is the perfect recipe for a Depression at this point in time.bubble_watcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09754629981220575364noreply@blogger.com
